Textures

I have recently been playing around a bit with textures on different images. We used to do the same kind of thing in the darkroom using lace or another sheer material between the enlarger and the print. However the digital age has made it so much easier and a thousand times faster.

You can create your own textures by just shooting a close-up image of such items as a hay bale or even a brick wall. Rust in any form can create a fine texture. After getting your image and deciding which photo you want to use it on, open both images in Photoshop and drag the texture image on top of the photo you are using creating a new layer. You can use the "free transform" tool in the Edit menu in order to get the images to the same size.  After you have them to the same size, go to the layers palette and change the blend mode to overlay. You may have to tweak it a bit but that is the basic steps used. After you get something you like feel free to post it in the comments and we can see what you come up with. I'm always amazing at others creativity.

And as always...
Enjoye!
